Obama pays homage to MLK

Last night in Barack’s speech he paid homage to MLK in his speech…. We need to understand that “Now is the time!” There are a lot of things that Barack can put into play but WE have to understand that WE are the ones that have to make the change!!!

WE NEED TO KNOW THAT OUR VOICES DO COUNT AND THAT WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE REGISTER TO VOTE AND VOTE!!!!!!!!! Obama voter registration click here!!! MAKE THE DIFFERENCE THAT YOU WANT TO SEE IN OUR FUTURE!!!!!! Check out the parts of his speech that referenced back to MLK’s. . .

Barack Obama’s Speech:

“Now is the time to end this addiction, and to understand that drilling is a stop-gap measure, not a long-term solution. Not even close…. Now is the time to finally meet our moral obligation to provide every child a world-class education, because it will take nothing less to compete in the global economy….Now is the time to finally keep the promise of affordable, accessible health care for every single American. If you have health care, my plan will lower your premiums….Now is the time to help families with paid sick days and better family leave, because nobody in America should have to choose between keeping their jobs and caring for a sick child or ailing parent…..Now is the time to change our bankruptcy laws, so that your pensions are protected ahead of CEO bonuses; and the time to protect social security for future generations…..And now is the time to keep the promise of equal pay for an equal day’s work, because I want my daughters to have exactly the same opportunities as your sons……Now, many of these plans will cost money, which is why I’ve laid out how I’ll pay for every dime - by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don’t help America grow.”

Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have a Dream Speech’:

“It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.” But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check — a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.”

Talk About Doing to Much

Now this is a classic example of doing too much…Damon Dash and his wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy, are in danger of losing their two Manhattan apartments to foreclosure. (Why do you need two apartments in the same city?)

“According to bank filings, Dash and Roy owe $7.3 million on the two properties and foreclosure proceedings have begun. Dash and Roy has failed to pay monthly mortgage payments of $78,500 on the two pricey properties since Jan 2008.” (So that’s 7 months, wow, I didn’t know that mortgage companies gave you that much time to pay?!)

Regardless, Roy’s been struggling to keep her company afloat in a our jacked up economy. And who knows what Dash does for a living after he sold his stock in Roc-A-Fella Records and Roc-A-Wear to former business partner Jay-Z.

This is a shame I mean is it that serious to keep up with the ‘Jone’s’ that you risk getting humiliated by the media for not paying? Inquiring minds want to know… :-(

Please be aware of the company that you keep in your inner circle, from friends to financial advisor’s there are those that are straight out to get you. . . Case in point:

Check out this article on my VA native, Mike Vick. . .
“Banks in Toronto; South Bend, Ind., and Charlotte, N.C., demanded repayment of more than $6 million in loans used to finance a car rental business, a wine enterprise and other ventures. A sports marketing company that he hired and fired even before he was drafted in 2001 hounded him for another $5 million in lost fees. And he faced breach of contract charges on two other deals.”

With all these folks hounding him (lol) and all the BAD decisions he has made because of his ‘Inner Circle’ he might want to stay in jail!!! ;-)

Recently a Boston Globe reporter has managed to trick herself into saving $12,000 by adopting a creative way to save. With two daughters in college and a mortgage to pay, Marie Franklin and her husband didn’t have any extra money to put into savings. While perusing online, she came across a saving trick that suggested saving every five she acquired and depositing them into a separate savings account.

Once she’s collected ten fives in her wallet, Marie deposits the $50 into her designated savings account, and once that account has $2,000 she purchases a CD to earn higher interest. After three years of saving all of her fives, she has accumulated $12,000 in savings. Marie acknowledges that this method of saving requires discipline, but her unconventional habit has obviously worked for her. View the article

I save all of my ones, everyday I stash my ones into a jar and though it would make sense to put it somewhere that I can get to so that I can deposit them into an account for now we’ll just say I’m working on that! Good Luck, easy saving tips!
