Paul Newman passed away at the age of 83! The state of his health has been in question much of this year. The cause of his death is cancer. I loved him as an actor (’Message in a Bottle’ with Kevin Costner, a classic!), a director/producer and many can agree with me! I must also add this tidbit over his lifetime he has given over $230 million away to charities, wow, well you can’t take it with you! To see more check out his Wiki page!

Paul Newman’s sly sense of humor was on a roll

My managing editor at the Westport (Conn.) News in the summer of 1979 had but one goal — talking to Paul Newman — but when the time came, she was woefully unprepared.

Westport’s most famous resident had called the office to suggest a story idea. She answered and was convinced it was a crank.

“Sure, you’re Paul Newman,” she said, angrily crashing the phone back into its cradle.

But after making a few checks, we determined it really WAS Newman. A handyman who renovated an old barn on Newman’s property into a projection room had become seriously ill. Newman wanted to throw a party to show off his work.

The local paper was welcome to send a reporter and a photographer, with one condition: We were to do our work without the guest of honor learning who we were, so the story could be a surprise when the paper was delivered next week.

After some deliberation, I was given the assignment. About to be a junior in college, I had worked hard that summer for meager wages. This was a reward.

So I drove my beat-up Dodge Dart onto the long driveway approaching Newman’s home. A woman walked down to meet me. The hired help? Not quite. It was Joanne Woodward.

Newman and I stood outside of the projection room for a few minutes talking about his handyman. Newman swore a lot. I was a college student; I thought that was cool.

During the party, I mingled and did my work surreptitiously, asking the man’s friends stories about him to fill out the story with personal details.

When the first person told me to go into the bathroom and check out the toilet paper, I found it a little odd. When the second person said it, I was intrigued. By the time it was mentioned a third time, I knew my next destination.

The roll of tissue by the toilet paper was emblazoned with a famous actor’s face. Every sheet of it.

“Greetings from Robert Redford!” it said.

I ripped off a few sheets and stuffed them into my pocket, a summer’s favorite souvenir.

Last night in Barack’s speech he paid homage to MLK in his speech…. We need to understand that “Now is the time!” There are a lot of things that Barack can put into play but WE have to understand that WE are the ones that have to make the change!!!

I saw this video the other night and I love this song even more now…. T-Pain did it again, I’m loving his originality and his expression….It reminds me of the video that Micheal Jackson did and his was riding a roller coaster through I thought it was Neverland but who knows; my music genuis Maestro let me know it’s “Leave Me Alone”

I was sleepy so the video looked crazy to me (but a good crazy, lol), so I’m wondering what this video would look to someone who got ‘high’…

Now this is a classic example of doing too much…Damon Dash and his wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy, are in danger of losing their two Manhattan apartments to foreclosure. (Why do you need two apartments in the same city?)

“According to bank filings, Dash and Roy owe $7.3 million on the two properties and foreclosure proceedings have begun. Dash and Roy has failed to pay monthly mortgage payments of $78,500 on the two pricey properties since Jan 2008.” (So that’s 7 months, wow, I didn’t know that mortgage companies gave you that much time to pay?!)

Regardless, Roy’s been struggling to keep her company afloat in a our jacked up economy. And who knows what Dash does for a living after he sold his stock in Roc-A-Fella Records and Roc-A-Wear to former business partner Jay-Z.

This is a shame I mean is it that serious to keep up with the ‘Jone’s’ that you risk getting humiliated by the media for not paying? Inquiring minds want to know…

Isis, a transgender finalist, was also featured on Cycle 10’s “Homeless” episode as an extra. So I’m just wondering how would you feel living with a transgender? I mean I know that ‘it is what it is’ but at one point you were a man or you still are, whatever it is a lil confusing but do you still check out chics? I mean I’m not hating at all I was just wondering would you be completely comfortable? Honestly, she might be more of a chic than some chics but let me know what you think.

What do you do if you feel like you are being disrespected? Do you get mad and keep it to yourself? Or do you stand your ground and let the person/people know how you are feeling?

I have choose to “learn from the situation!” I have noticed that this is going to happen and I can either put the energy into it or I can place the energy somewhere more productive! I know that I’m going to get disrespect from all over, this is the world that we live in, but I also know that I have the power to let it effect me in a positive or negative way.

When I am disrespected by someone I will remind myself that if I become offended or feel disrespected then it is only my ego that is offended/feeling disrespected.

Depending on the type of situation, this can be easy or difficult so I have begun to develop an awareness and catch myself if I become offended and bring myself back from that negative place. I will see it as a matter of practice as it is a skill that needs developement.

I will keep my heart open and smile (”the kill them with kindness”) therefore changing the energetic dynamic within myself and hopefully into the situation. I am the one who holds the power and I can turn it round into a positive and productive situation.

However, I am still human and sometimes I succumb to the common failures, but through developing an awareness off my reaction to such energy it is becoming less of a personal issue and more of an opportunity to practice, develop, grow and enrich both myself and my “offenders!”

So if you feel you have to disrespect me and my loved ones, do what you feel is necessary just know that I am above it all. . . Maybe one day, when you are above it all, you can meet me in the clouds!
